Let Go

The one thing that I have learned about being natural is that there will always be plenty of people against your choice to be yourself. Someone is always going to feel uncomfortable that you walk around proudly of being you. Someone is going to comment, stare, point, question, and criticize your actions. You can stand there with someone and argue with them about your choice and try to change their opinion but the truth is, the problem really isn’t you. People are uncomfortable with the unknown, they are uncomfortable with themselves and it makes them uncomfortable that you aren’t. What really bothers them is that they wish they had the courage, the will, the push to be themselves. They want to be able to walk around as a declaration for who they are and what they believe. You cannot hate someone for being themselves, you only hate the fact that you were never that strong to do it.
So to all those that think that my hair isn’t tamed and that I should be ashamed for wearing a fro; let go.
For those of you who think that the hair I was born with isn’t good enough; let go.
For those of you who find me odd and think that my hair isn’t good hair; let go.
Let go of your opinion. Let go of all your old perceptions about what is beauty. Let go of the idea that you have to have straight hair to be pretty. Let go of the idea that there is something wrong with kinks, coils, and curls. Let go and be yourself. Once you do this, you’ll realize that you were looking at the world all wrong. That there is more to you than you could ever imagine and that’s when you’ll truly be
Happy Nappy
